The rule
What Texas asks for, in plain words.
16 TAC §83.108 sets how a foot spa is cleaned and how each cleaning is recorded. Here is the record half, next to how ReadyPedi keeps it.
| The rule | ReadyPedi | |
|---|---|---|
| Which units | Every whirlpool foot spa, meaning any basin with circulating water, pipe-less included. And every foot basin or tub that holds still water. | Set each chair as Whirlpool or Basin. Each prints on its own form. |
| What a row shows | The date and time of each cleaning, whether it was daily or bi-weekly, and any working day the spa wasn't used. | The tech picks the cleaning. The date and time are stamped for them. |
| When it's written | At or near the time of the cleaning. | At the chair, the moment it's done. |
| The form | The department's own: BAC-FI-004-E for a whirlpool foot spa, BAC-FI-003-E for a basin or tub. | Prints both, filled in from the log. |
| How long | At least sixty days, kept in the salon. | Two years of history on every plan. |
| On request | Shown to a client or a TDLR inspector who asks. | Inspection mode opens the last sixty days, ready to hand over. |
| Out of service | The record shows the date a spa or jet is removed from service. | Removed from Service and Back in Service, each a row of its own. |
| Your part | Every row, on time, for every unit. | Three taps at the chair. |

Instructions
The Texas questions we're asked most.
Does a pipe-less foot spa count as a whirlpool?
Yes. Texas counts any basin with circulating water as a whirlpool foot spa, pipe-less units included. Its record is the BAC-FI-004-E.
How long do I keep the record?
At least sixty days, in the salon, one record per unit. ReadyPedi keeps two years of history, so the sixty days are always there.
Can End of Day and Bi-Weekly go on the same row?
No. On a bi-weekly night the overnight soak takes the place of the end-of-day flush. The soak gets a row of its own, with only the Bi-Weekly box ticked.
Does a paper log meet the rule?
Yes, if it's complete, written at the time and kept sixty days. What paper can't do is make the row when the cleaning happens, or stop a box combination that fails inspection.
What if a foot spa is out of service?
The record has to show the date it was removed from service. Log a Removed from Service row, then a Back in Service row when it returns.
Is ReadyPedi part of TDLR?
No. ReadyPedi is an independent product, not affiliated with or endorsed by TDLR. It prints TDLR's own forms from your log.
Always inspection-ready
Never fail a TDLR inspection over a missing log again.
